Chainsaw Cross Cut & Maintenance
The Chainsaw course is designed for the operator who requires theoretical and practical instruction at basic level, in operating a chainsaw in a Forestry / industrial environment.
It is also applicable to those experienced operators who require refresher training.
Course content:
• Understand the hazards involved in operating a chainsaw and controlling the risks.
• Understand the legal requirements involved in chainsaw operations
• Identify the basic construction, purpose and function of components and the purpose and use of all controls.
• Select appropriate PPE and wear correctly.
• How to carry out all pre-use and running checks.
• Prepare the chainsaw and work area for operations.
• Cross cut timber in various positions, on and off the ground.
• Correctly and safely strip down and clean the chainsaw.
• Correctly sharpen the chain, ensuring correct depth guage settings.
• Re-fuel the chainsaw taking into account the work area and general environment.
• Placing the chainsaw in an out of service condition.
Duration: The duration of the course is 2 days for the novice operator and 1 day for a refresher dependent on experience with a maximum training ratio of 4 students to 1 instructor. (See Training Info).
Venue: Can be carried out at our training school in Eastleigh or at an employer’s premises. (See training Info).
Assessment: At the end of the course students will undergo a formal written test on all theoretical subjects covered and a practical assessment on their basic skills.
Accreditation: NPORS or LETS certificate
Cost: Dependant on course duration and attendees.
